Comprehensive Setup Procedures
Critical Pressure Adjustment
Understanding Pressure Requirements: Correct pressure is essential for high-quality welding results while providing sufficient drive wheel traction. The thicker the material, especially rough-surfaced materials, the greater the pressure required.
Step-by-Step Pressure Adjustment:
- Initial Preparation: Confirm hot wedge is in standby position. Rotate pressure adjustment nut (9) clockwise several turns and lift pressure arm.
- Single Layer Testing: Place one layer of material (about 3cm) between driving wheels. Press pressure rod to correct position and fasten locking pin. Material should move without resistance.
- Zeroing Procedure: Turn nut (9) counterclockwise until driving wheel contacts material and cannot turn by hand. This establishes the zero point.
- Final Adjustment: Lift pressure arm and disengage drive wheel. Rotate counterclockwise one more full turn.
- Verification Test: Place folded material (two layers thickness) between drive wheels until locking pin pops into hole. Drag material to confirm adequate pressure. If material can be extracted, loosen drive wheel and turn adjusting nut counterclockwise by one-third turn.
Caution for Thin Materials: Thin materials require less pressure. Excessive pressure causes material fracture from weld edge due to shear effects. Always start conservatively and increase gradually.
Upper Guide Wheel Configuration
Factory Configuration: The IZ-960 comes configured for welding HDPE film materials of 1.5-2.5mm thickness. Unless necessary to change material range, maintain factory settings.
Adjustment Procedure:
- Upper guide wheel (10) is located above hot wedge at pressure arm bottom
- Changing shrapnel number varies guide wheel tightness
- Requires loosening baffle screws and guide wheel mounting screws
- Adjust hot wedge position during process
Lower Guide Wheel Setup
Critical Positioning: The relationship between hot wedge and lower drive wheel (14) is most important. Distance between hot wedge tip and driving wheel should be slightly greater than film thickness.
Adjustment Steps:
- Lift pressure arm and insert material to be welded
- Fold material in half and place on upper and lower hot wedge faces
- Remove lower chain cover (13) to expose front lower guide wheel (11) screws
- Use Allen wrench to loosen fixing screw and rotate front lower guide wheel downward
- Use 13mm wrench to adjust rear lower guide wheel (12) height, which controls hot wedge position
- Set appropriate clearance and tighten all screws
Important Warnings:
- If rear lower guide wheel set too high: insufficient hot wedge clearance causes material clamping and welding pressure loss
- For thin materials or high temperatures: set front lower guide wheel more loosely to reduce material contact time and prevent overheating
Hot Wedge Position Setting
Set travel limit position when pressure arm is pressed with hot wedge in welding position. If tip is too close to driving wheel, the wheel will clamp hot wedge tip when pressing down, reducing welding pressure and potentially causing equipment damage.
Operating Procedures
Power-Up Sequence
- Voltage Verification: Confirm voltage, wire specifications, and length before connecting power
- Power Switch: Turn on power switch (1) – display screens show set and actual values for temperature and speed
- Motor Activation: Turn on motor switch (2) and keep running during operation to prevent drive wheel overheating at specific positions
Temperature Setting
After power-on, temperature display shows set value (ST) and actual value (CT). Long press or tap “+/-” buttons with thermometer symbol to set desired temperature. Turn on heating switch (3) to begin rapid heating cycle.
Speed Configuration
Speed display screen shows set speed (SV) and actual speed (CV). Long press or tap “+/-” buttons with walk symbol to set desired welding speed.
Parameter Memory
The IZ-960 automatically remembers last-used parameters, eliminating need for reset on subsequent startups and ensuring consistency across multiple work sessions.

Proper Use Requirements
Operator Qualifications: Appointed operators must read and familiarize themselves with manual before starting work. For safety reasons, never modify equipment without authorization. Voltage measurements must be performed by professionals.
Power Requirements: The IZ-960 rated at 220V operates normally between 208-240V. This voltage range refers to actual connected voltage at welding machine or voltage at machine end of power extension line.
Voltage Measurement Method: Connect extension wire, start welding machine, turn on heating and driving switches. When heating normally, slightly pull out plug to expose socket connector and measure voltage with voltmeter.
Generator Specifications
On-Site Generator Requirements: Must maintain power over 3500W. Recommend using 5000W or higher capacity generator to maximize welding machine performance and achieve better temperature control. Higher generator power provides more stable machine performance.
Wire Specifications: Regardless of length, use grounding wire with cross-sectional area of 3×1.5 square meters minimum. Wire cross-sectional area should exceed rated equipment power range.
Leakage Protection: For operator personal safety and reliable equipment operation, strongly recommend connecting equipment to regulated power supply with leakage protection device.
Maintenance and Repair
Regular Maintenance Requirements
After Each Use:
- Clean sand and debris from drive wheels and hot wedge immediately
